OCCASIONAL PRESS RELEASE – Public-Private partnership municipality Aerodrom and Crescent Smart City

Leuven, Belgium – March 18 2024 – 7:30 CET, Crescent NV, Geldenaaksebaan 329, 3001 Heverlee (Euronext Brussels: OPTI)

Crescent is pleased to announce that a public-private partnership for the design and implementation of a ‘Smart City’ project was formalized and signed on March 11 with the Aerodrom municipality in Skopje, Macedonia. A consortium led by Crescent Smart City D.O.O.E.L will coordinate and manage the entire project in collaboration with local partners such as Asseco (IT services) and A1 Telecom.
The total value of the project is € 9 million and encompasses a variety of digital solutions for smart lighting, smart mobility, digital billboards, and other internet enabled public services. For the Crescent group the project entails the supply of € 1.8 million worth of products in 2024 for lighting luminaires and Remoticom controllers. This project is the first in a series of at least three similar ‘Smart City’ projects to be awarded in the Republic of Macedonia this year.

“There will be many innovative solutions that the citizens will witness in the next period, and which will be further expanded and upgraded according to the technological development that is spreading in the global world,” said Timcho Mutsunski, mayor of Aerodrom Municipality, “This is a significant step forward which, in the next six months will make Aerodrom the first smart municipality in the territory of the entire Republic of Macedonia.”

“This is not just about smart lighting. This partnership is strategic, social, and economic. It’s about durability and about value creation, in terms of smart metering, smart monitoring and smart management of the community; delivering better services more efficiently, while contributing to a safer, more durable and more comfortable living environment.” said Eric Van Zele, Chairman of the Board of Directors Crescent NV.

Further to the delivery of 9.8 k Remoticom controllers to Skopje in 2021, this Aerodrom project represents a significant strategic expansion of Crescent’s geographic scope into Eastern Europe capitalizing on substantial energy savings that go hand in hand with the implementation of its digital solutions for the public sector.
